CHECKING YOUR PRESSURE AT HOME
If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, your doctor may recommend lifestyle changes such as exercising, quitting smoking, or change your diet. When these changes are not enough to lower your blood pressure, a doctor will prescribe medication to help. Here is a list, and how they work, and common side effects.
When taking your pressure at home, empty your bladder prior to taking your pressure. Find a comfortable spot next to a table. Sit up straight with your back supported, legs uncrossed and feet flat on the ground. roll up your sleeve and keep your arm rested on the table at heart level. Rest for 5 minutes before taking your pressure. Breath normally and try not to talk while checking.
